It has been announced that the royal wedding will be broadcast live on YouTube. Prince William and Catherine Middleton will marry on Friday 29th April at Westminster Abbey in London and palace officials have revealed that the wedding will be broadcast live online.
The four hour programme will include the ceremony itself, the journey to Buckingham Palace and the newlyweds' customary appearance on the balcony. There will also be a 'video wedding book' that can be 'signed' by the public.
The Royal Family has further increased its usage of the internet, and particularly social networking channels, in the build up to the wedding. The event has it's own official website and more than 34,000 followers on Twitter. There is also a Facebook and a Flickr page!
Matt Skeggs, Director at E Marketing Support commented:
"As we all know, times have changed and the internet is fast becoming the most popular media channel available. A recent poll showed most young people would rather lose access to TV than the internet, so it is hardly surprising that the Royal family has adopted such a robust online presence for the special day."
